چکیده

The solid waste management (SWM) sector is responsible for the emission of about 5% all global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In developing countries where less organised, carbon footprint much higher, so also potential reducing these This study assessed GHGs from SWM in northeastern Nigeria. Based on literature study, it was found that open dumping dumpsites and unsanitary landfills a disposal method region. It estimated 350,822.80 tonnes MSW disposed annually, anaerobically decomposes 403373.25 dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) into atmosphere. However, when an integrated (ISWM) system, which comprises composting organic materials, recycling paper, glass metals incineration garbage, employed, reduction region’s up to 99.5% attainable. ISWM element with highest sink potential, this because high matter wastes. suggests public-private partnership as be able reform region make more sustainable.
